It’s one thing to sit behind a computer and anonymously dislike a Youtube video. It’s another to openly support gay rights every day. However, I can confidently say that a significant amount of people who have denounced Perry’s views via online forum are also the same people who call homosexual men “faggots” behind their backs. This is not okay. I’m glad people are reacting appropriately to a campaign ad that is deeply offensive, but I urge them to extend this support to the gay community in a public way. Hiding behind a computer screen doesn’t solve any problems.
